ABOUT GAIL

Gail Reed is Secretary of the Board of Directors for The Washington Informer Charities Inc. Her background includes more than 30 years of higher education and not-for-profit fundraising, alumni relations and communications in senior level positions.  Since July 2013 she has served as Director of Planned Giving at the Paulist Fathers Missionary Society of North America.

Prior to joining the Paulist Fathers, Gail was Director of Major Gifts at the American Lung Association National Office in Washington, DC.  Previously, she was instrumental in building the Howard University Annual Giving Program and the development of programs for both the Andrew Rankin Chapel and the School of Social Work at Howard. She also served as Executive Director of Development and Assistant to the Dean of the Howard University College of Medicine.

A native of Marion County, South Carolina, Gail pinpoints her passion for literacy to the influence of loving parents, a small rural community’s zeal for educating its children and dedicated public school teachers who worked not only to teach but to inspire children to learn to become positive contributing members of our American society.  “My engagement with The Washington Informer Charities aligns with and helps me to fulfill my personal desire to contribute to the philanthropic and civic goals of the Metropolitan Washington Community. I am honored to have this opportunity to actively participate in an organization whose core mission is to advance literacy.”

She is a graduate of South Carolina State University and also attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Howard University.
